Babbling Brook Cottage
Leicester, NC
1 Bedroom | 1 Bathroom
Sweet country cottage with backyard babbling brook and charming vintage furnishings on 1/2 acre! Great secret spot for romantic weekend, writer's retreat, artist's inspiration, or just a dose of nature.
Screened-in porch at the back of the house faces the stream, great place for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Behind the stream is a hillside of trees, no residents other than singing birds! Warm central heating for chilly nights, cool breezes and shade much of the day for summer days.
Stop at your favorite market on your way, because this is a place you'll want to cook and enjoy meals together. Both fridge and stove are new and in perfect working order. Newly renovated kitchen with delicious well water, lots of hot water, plenty of pots and dishes, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, propane grill. Chef-owned home with vintage details.
Your magical retreat is off the beaten path on a road that has almost no traffic or urban noise, which means the brook and the birds are your soundtrack. The fence encloses a large yard and the stream so pets and kids can wander outside without worry. View across the street is of mountains and a handful of other country homes.
Nice new queen bed with a window view of the yard and hillsides. Also have a single inflatable bed. Plenty of clean sheets and towels.
Bathtub has a hand-held shower head and plenty of hot water.
Parking right in front of the house.
WiFi works great, there is also a land line phone. Cellphone reception is irregular once you are off the main road of Leicester Highway! Flat screen TV/DVD player combo. No cable, this is for movie nights - I have a collection you are free to use, but you may want to bring more. Fenced yard for your well-behaved, flea treated, short-haired puppy. Let me know if you have pets, as there is an additional fee!
Guest Access
An easy 1/2 hour drive to central Asheville, in green hills with gentle grazing cows, wild turkeys, birds and peaceful vistas. Fenced yard and screened porch. Surrounded by nature!
Interaction with Guests
I respect your privacy, so I will welcome you on arrival and help you with any requests, but like to leave you to enjoy the space. Let me know if you have any particular needs, as I want your stay to be a happy one.
The Neighborhood
Country greenery in old farming 'hood, but an easy drive to the center of town if you find the beautiful, peaceful vibe too calming! I love this neighborhood, a handful of scattered country homes and friendly folk who wave as they drive by whether they've met you or not. The main road that brings you here, Leicester Highway, features a big Ingles Market with great beer and wine selection, gas stations, ATM's, post office.
Getting Around
For night life, you'll want to drive the 30 minutes to West or Downtown Asheville. Easy! Traffic there and back moves quickly, no problem.
Asheville is a great town, lots of art, breweries, festivals, shops, cafe's, restaurants, antiques galore. Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Asheville Yoga Center all just off the freeway in the center of town.
Please note a month minimum is required to get this price. There is a cleaning fee of $150, as well as a refundable deposit of $200 against damage which will be returned within a week of vacating. The house is not set up for large long-haired dogs, but I will consider one small flea-treated dog or cat and there is a pet fee of $50 per animal.
